The Song Saa Foundation

In 2008 the developers of Song Saa, Rory and Melita Hunter didn’t just build a luxury resort, they also introduced a programme to conserve ‘the beauty of the islands and the smiles of its people’.

They established the archipelago’s first marine reserve and solid waste management centre.  These projects were followed by other new and creative initiatives.  Now the Song Saa Foundation aims to build on this by promoting further sustainability in the archipelago.

“Through commitment we can ensure that the land and sea resources of the Koh Rong archipelago are sustained for future generations to enjoy.” – Rory and Melita Hunter

Through these endeavors and Song Saa's Sustainable Management Plan you can see how it has already benefited the people of the area from those who are working at the resort (they employ 150 people).  The employees and their families live in a village purpose built by Song Saa on the main island of Koh Rong.
